The Importance of Social Justice

  Did the  30 Days  video influence your views regarding undocumented immigrants or immigration policy in any way?    My feelings about immigration I think are very different than a lot of people. I do not think immigration is terrible and I do not think we should be so hostile and negative towards immigrants. The video only reminded me of the reality of what immigrants face to this day and the unfair way that they are being perceived and treated. Not only the struggles and stereotypes that many continue to face and have it shape their lives. Watching this video just made me respect immigrants who are trying to improve their lives. I think that we have been given opportunities that they do not have and I think it is important to lend a hand to those who are actually here to make a positive change.   With whom did you identify most strongly in the video and why? (a list of the characters in the film is provided below)   I relate to both Roberto as well as Hugh. I am Mexican American and just like Hugh shared in the film he was nervous about being in the situation he was in because he does not know what to expect. For me even today I sometimes have fear or anxiety of what waits for me when I go out to public spaces. I never know what to expect but it's always in the back of my mind if I'm going to get mocked when I speak or am I going to get called a racial slur just because I decided to go out? These are things that have happened countless times and it is something that is hard to ignore andI have to think of.
