Bill LB 87 requires the commission for the blind and visually impaired to develop a statewide support service provider program for people who are deaf or blind. It is supposed to help people with these disabilities to be more independent and be able to participate in society more. Services that will be included from this bill are assistance to live independently, access to visual, situational, and environmental information, services of a human guide, facilitation of brief, casual exchanges of spoke or signed conversations, and assistance with daily living activities.
